Tovino Thomas Discusses the Impact of Conflict on 'Pallichattambi' Release Plans
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 31 (NationPress) The talented actor Tovino Thomas, who is rapidly establishing himself as a leading figure in the South Indian film industry, has shared insights with IANS about why the producers of his highly anticipated historical action film, 'Pallichattambi', have decided to stick to their original release date. This decision comes amid numerous other prominent Malayalam films delaying their releases due to the ongoing turmoil in the Gulf region.
In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Tovino Thomas expressed, "The situation regarding this war is quite alarming. My primary concern goes beyond the film's release or its box office performance; it revolves around the well-being of those residing in the affected areas. The welfare of people takes precedence over cinema. Cinema serves merely as a form of entertainment and is never more important than the lives of individuals. I am particularly worried about my friends and family living in the Middle East and continually check in on them."
He further elaborated, "The conflict began approximately 20 days ago. Initially, we thought it would resolve quickly, similar to previous instances. Hence, we had announced 'Pallichattambi' for release on April 9 quite some time ago."
He added, "However, we encountered another unfortunate circumstance with the elections taking place on April 9. This forced us to reschedule the release by a day to April 10. A significant amount of money is at stake here, and the uncertainty surrounding the war's duration remains concerning. As of today, when I communicate with friends in the Middle Eastern countries, they continue to live in anxiety."
Tovino noted the challenging position they are in, stating, "As an actor who values teamwork, I am inclined to support whatever decision the producer makes. It's their investment on the line, and the producer must consider all financial implications before deciding."
He also mentioned the recent success of 'Aadu 3', which performed exceptionally well despite the ongoing crisis, saying, "'Aadu 3' was released and grossed over 100 crores, which gives us hope. Ultimately, if the film is of quality, it will succeed, and the producer's investment will be secure. Regardless of what the producer decides, I am committed to supporting him and putting forth my best effort for the film's promotion and release."
When asked if he would advise the producers on adjusting the release date, he replied, "I lack the global awareness necessary to predict when the conflict will conclude. If I were to suggest a change, I would also need to be accountable for that decision."
He concluded, "Determining a film's release date is not the actor's role. I believe producers and directors have a better understanding of the situation. I can share my thoughts, and I have that rapport with my producer and director. We’ve had extensive discussions, and I’ve shared my views, but ultimately, I will stand by their decisions."
