Chennai, June 25 (NationPress) Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who has a significant role alongside British actor Jeremy Irons in the international film 'Rizana - A Caged Bird', expressed that collaborating with the Academy Award winner felt surreal.
Having made her mark in the Tamil and Telugu film industries, Varalaxmi will make her Hollywood debut through 'Rizana - A Caged Bird'.
Excited about the project, she shared, "It is surreal to be working alongside Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons. He is renowned as the voice of Scar in 'The Lion King', a film I cherish and know all the dialogues of by heart. Making my Hollywood debut in a film with him is truly a dream realized. Under the direction of veteran Chandran Rutnam and produced by Jagath Sumathipala, the movie, filmed in Sri Lanka, draws inspiration from the true story of Rizana Nafeeq, who was executed in Saudi Arabia in 2005 for allegedly killing a baby in her care.
Vidushika Reddy portrays the titular role of Rizana in the film.
During the film's title launch event, Jeremy Irons remarked, "The Sri Lankan film industry is creating a movie of international significance. It enables me, as an international actor, to join this narrative and discover Sri Lanka and its people while contributing to sharing this story with a global audience."
