Tokyo, Dec 26 (NationPress) A total of 15 individuals sustained injuries following a stabbing incident at a factory located in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, on Friday, as reported by local media citing official sources.
Emergency services received a call at approximately 4:30 pm (local time), indicating that five or six individuals had been stabbed at a Yokohama Rubber factory in Mishima, according to Japan's prominent Kyodo News Agency.
The police have arrested Masaki Oyama, a 38-year-old man, on charges of attempted murder. Authorities also received reports of an individual allegedly splashing an unidentified liquid around the factory, prompting further investigation into the episode. The factory, which produces car tires, employs around 980 people as of 2024, according to its official website.
Last week, on December 15, law enforcement apprehended a 30-year-old man linked to another stabbing incident in Fukuoka, which resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to both a man and a woman associated with the Japanese idol group HKT48.
The suspect, identified as Naoya Yamaguchi from Itoshima in Fukuoka Prefecture, faces charges of attempted murder and has admitted to his role in the assault. He has also acknowledged his involvement in the attack on the woman, as per police reports from Kyodo News.
These assaults occurred on December 14 at the Mizuho PayPay Dome Fukuoka stadium and a nearby amusement venue, Boss E.Zo Fukuoka, which features a theater for HKT48 performances. The group is part of the famous AKB48 family of all-girl pop ensembles and is based in Hakata, Fukuoka.
Among the victims, a 44-year-old event worker was stabbed in the chest while trying to intervene with an assailant believed to be Yamaguchi. Another victim was a 27-year-old woman attending a live event at the stadium, who suffered a back injury.
