Afghan Authorities Confiscate 38 Kg of Illegal Narcotics, Detain 11 Individuals

Kabul, Dec 22 (NationPress) The Afghan counter-narcotics police have confiscated 38 kg of illegal narcotics and detained 11 individuals linked to drug trafficking, purchases, and sales, as reported by the Ministry of Interior on Sunday.

Recently, units of the counter-narcotics police executed an operation in the Durbaba district of eastern Nangarhar province, leading to the discovery of 38 kg of illicit substances, including methamphetamine and heroin, as stated in a ministry announcement.

In another statement, it was revealed that eleven suspects were apprehended in relation to drug trafficking, purchases, and sales in the adjoining areas of the provinces of Laghman, Kapisa, Parwan, Khost, and Farah.

On December 18, the counter-narcotics police discovered 56 kg of illegal narcotics and detained 151 individuals accused of drug trafficking over the past three months in eastern Afghanistan's Parwan province, as reported by a local police official.

Units of the counter-narcotics police conducted separate operations on the outskirts of Charikar city and within various districts of the province, uncovering 56 kg of illegal drugs, according to Fazal Rahim Maskenyar, spokesperson for the provincial police.

A total of 151 individuals were arrested in connection with drug trafficking, and their cases have been submitted to the judiciary for further action, he added.

On November 12, counter-narcotics police in Afghanistan seized illegal drugs and apprehended 53 individuals related to various criminal activities, including drug smuggling and murder.

Separate operations conducted by the counter-narcotics police in southern Kandahar province resulted in the confiscation of 129 kg of illegal drugs, including heroin, opium, and hashish, as per a statement from the provincial police.

In connection with drug trafficking, purchases, and sales, nine individuals were arrested and their cases were forwarded to the judiciary for further investigation, the statement noted.

Additionally, law enforcement has detained 44 suspects for involvement in serious criminal activities such as murder and theft across various provinces including Nangarhar, Balkh, Laghman, Farah, Baghlan, Herat, and Nangarhar, according to the Ministry of Interior.

The Afghan caretaker government has committed to combatting illicit drugs, drug production, and trafficking, as well as addressing other criminal activities to maintain law and order throughout the country.
