NVIDIA's CEO Declares AI Infrastructure as a National Imperative
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Washington, Feb 26 (NationPress) Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, has asserted that the surge in global artificial intelligence has reached a pivotal point, emphasizing that computing power is now the cornerstone of revenue growth and national competitiveness.
“In this evolving AI landscape, compute is synonymous with revenues,” Huang stated during the company's earnings call on Wednesday (local time). “Without sufficient compute, generating tokens is impossible. And without tokens, revenue generation becomes unattainable.”
He noted that architecture choices are now crucial to business outcomes. “The significance of architecture cannot be overstated; it is no longer just strategic. It has a direct impact on earnings,” Huang remarked, adding that, “Selecting the optimal architecture, one that delivers the best performance per watt, is absolutely vital,” he conveyed to the investors.
Huang emphasized that AI infrastructure is now a priority for nations. “Every country will establish and manage segments of its AI infrastructure, much like what we see with electricity and the internet today,” he indicated, highlighting the emergence of sovereign AI systems.
NVIDIA's Chief Financial Officer, Colette Kress, reported that the company’s “Sovereign AI” sector has experienced a more than threefold increase year-on-year, exceeding $30 billion, fueled by demand from clients in “Canada, France, the Netherlands, Singapore, and the UK.”
The company announced a total quarterly revenue of $68 billion, reflecting a 73 percent year-on-year increase. Data center revenue surged to $62 billion, marking a 75 percent rise. For the entire fiscal year, data center revenue reached $194 billion, a 68 percent increase.
NVIDIA has projected first-quarter revenues of $78 billion, with a margin of plus or minus 2 percent, primarily driven by growth in data centers.
Huang also mentioned strengthened collaborations with major AI companies. “This quarter, we revealed a partnership with Anthropic, including a $10 billion investment in their firm,” he noted.
He characterized Anthropic’s “Claude Cowork agent platform” as “transformative” and added, “With Claude Cowork and OpenAI, demand for compute is escalating, marking the arrival of the ChatGPT era of agentic AI.”
Regarding China, Kress stated, “Although minimal quantities of H200 products for Chinese customers were sanctioned by the US government, we have not yet seen any revenue generated, nor do we know if imports will be permitted into China.” She further expressed that the company is “not anticipating any Data Center compute revenue from China in our projections.”
