New Delhi, Oct 17 (NationPress) The global community requires Ayurveda’s ancient wisdom for preventive and sustainable healthcare, stated Geraldo Alckmin, the Vice President of Brazil.
During his official visit to India, Alckmin toured the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi, which operates under the Ministry of Ayush.
He conveyed his admiration for India's role in championing traditional and integrative health systems.
“Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old treasure of health and wisdom,” he remarked, congratulating the AIIA for its efforts in promoting health, treating diseases, and enhancing education and research through a holistic approach.
“The world needs Ayurveda’s timeless wisdom for preventive and sustainable healthcare,” he reiterated.
In his capacity as the Minister of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services in Brazil, Alckmin acknowledged the global significance of Ayurveda, expressing his interest in utilizing Ayurvedic treatment for his back pain.
“As life expectancy increases, so does the demand for natural and preventive healthcare systems like Ayurveda. If my visit weren't so brief, I would have certainly sought treatment for my back pain here at AIIA,” Alckmin shared.
Accompanied by his wife, Maria Lucia Alckmin, and a high-profile delegation of 14 officials, including Kenneth Nobrega, Ambassador of Brazil to India, and Romison Rodrigues, Director of the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA), Alckmin received a warm welcome.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between India and Brazil in the realms of traditional medicine, integrative health research, and wellness industries.
The delegation was briefed on AIIA’s groundbreaking contributions to Ayurveda education, clinical services, and advanced research.
This visit reaffirmed the ongoing collaboration between the two nations through existing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at fostering academic exchange, joint research, and capacity building in traditional medicine.
AIIA currently collaborates with esteemed institutions in Brazil, having signed MoUs with Brazil’s Sri Vajera Foundation and Associated Institutions; the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ); the Brazilian Academic Consortium for Integrative Health (CABSIN); and between AIIA, Future Vision Institute, and the Federal University of São Paulo, Brazil.
