Azerbaijan Expresses Commitment to Syria's Stability and Offers Humanitarian Assistance

Baku, Dec 11 (NationPress) The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan released a declaration emphasizing its dedication to fostering Syria's peace and territorial integrity during the ongoing crisis.

The declaration underscored that Azerbaijan is actively observing the situation in Syria and engaging in discussions with Turkey. It highlighted the urgent necessity of reestablishing peace and stability in Syria following the downfall of the Bashar al-Assad regime, advocating for a resolution to the conflict via internal political dialogue that reflects the wishes of the Syrian populace, according to reports from the Xinhua news agency.

Azerbaijan reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty. The ministry also indicated its willingness to collaborate, alongside Turkey and other aligned nations, to tackle the humanitarian issues confronting the people of Syria.

Earlier on the same day, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan spoke with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey via telephone, discussing regional issues, including the current situation in Syria. Both leaders reiterated their support for Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty, with Aliyev expressing optimism that stability in Syria could be attained with Turkey's ongoing backing.

In turn, Erdogan emphasized future collaboration between the two nations concerning humanitarian aid for the citizens of Syria.
