Did Baloch Fighters Successfully Seize Another Pakistani Army Camp Under Operation Herof-2?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Quetta, Feb 4 (NationPress) The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has increased its influence in the Nushki district of Balochistan by seizing a Pakistani Army camp located in the Ahmad Wal area. This follows their prior capture of a local facility in the Galangur region, as reported by local media on Wednesday.
The second phase of the Operation Herof, initiated by the BLA, has reached its fifth day, resulting in interruptions to internet and train services, as well as major public gatherings in various areas of the province.
Citing local reports, The Balochistan Post noted that fresh explosions and intense gunfire erupted late Tuesday night near a camp of Pakistani forces adjacent to the Nushki bus terminal, amid ongoing confrontations associated with the BLA’s Operation Herof.
Residents reported hearing loud blasts and continuous gunfire across multiple sectors of the city, deepening the anxiety of civilians confined to their residences.
Locals have accused Pakistani forces of intentionally targeting civilian-populated areas, raising significant concerns about potential civilian casualties. However, severe movement and communication restrictions have hindered independent verification of these claims.
These recent events come after the BLA announced a series of coordinated strikes under Operation Herof, targeting multiple sites simultaneously. The group claims attacks were carried out in Quetta, Nushki, and at least 12 other cities within Balochistan.
Despite official assertions that the situation remains under control, reports from Nushki suggest a different reality, as per The Balochistan Post.
Simultaneously, the BLA’s official media channel, Hakkal, released images and identities of two of its suicide attackers, including a video featuring a female fighter engaging in attacks against Pakistani forces as part of the ongoing Operation Herof.
In a statement, the BLA identified one of the suicide attackers as Siraj Baloch, a resident of the Buleda region in Kech district, who participated in the operation.
The BLA asserted that on January 31, Siraj Baloch executed a vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack on what they referred to as a primary Pakistani army camp in the Pullabad area of Tump, emphasizing that his involvement showcased a long-standing ideological commitment rather than a mere "spontaneous decision".
Since the commencement of the second phase of Operation Herof on January 31, the BLA has reportedly inflicted casualties on several Pakistani army personnel.
Describing it as a "declaration of decisive resistance," BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch stated that the new phase of Operation Herof targets “the occupying state and all its military and administrative structures.”
