Dhaka, Dec 22 (NationPress) As Bangladesh faces an escalating law and order crisis, the radical faction Inqilab Moncho issued a warning on Monday to initiate a campaign aimed at overthrowing the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus if justice is not served in the murder of their spokesperson, Sharif Osman Hadi, according to local news sources.
During a press conference held in Dhaka, member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber stated that a 24-hour ultimatum declared at Hadi's funeral on Saturday has lapsed without any action from the interim government's Home Advisor, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, or other Bangladeshi officials.
“The deadline has lapsed without any noticeable actions from the Home Advisor or relevant authorities regarding the apprehension of the suspects,” The Daily Star reported Jaber as saying.
He claimed that neither the Home Advisor nor his special assistant attended a ministry briefing, describing this absence as an attempt to undermine the severity of the situation.
"The Home and Law advisors, among others involved, are shirking their responsibilities and trying to evade accountability," Jaber asserted.
The platform laid out several demands, including the swift establishment of a Speedy Trial Tribunal for the murder case, and called for support from international organizations like the FBI or Scotland Yard to ensure a fair investigation.
Criticizing the Bangladeshi intelligence agencies, Jaber remarked, "If intelligence agencies funded by public tax cannot identify the murderers, their existence is unjustifiable."
He issued a stern warning to the Yunus-led interim government, stating, "Justice must be served before the elections. If you fail to deliver justice, once the people start spilling blood, it will be uncontrollable."
Jaber announced that the platform would conduct a protest march, after which they would determine whether to continue supporting the interim government or initiate a movement to remove it.
He pledged to remain in the streets until those accountable for Hadi's murder, along with their backers, are apprehended.
This warning follows a surge of violence across Bangladesh targeting minorities, media outlets, cultural institutions, and diplomatic missions under the Yunus-led interim government after Hadi's death on December 18.
