Beijing, Dec 31 (NationPress) Chinese President Xi Jinping stated on Wednesday that China is poised to collaborate with all nations to promote global peace and development.
In his New Year's address for 2026, Xi remarked that throughout the past year, China has continuously welcomed the world with open arms.
To effectively tackle climate change, China revealed new Nationally Determined Contributions, with Xi emphasizing that following the announcement of three global initiatives focusing on development, security, and civilization, he proposed the Global Governance Initiative to foster a more equitable global governance framework.
"China consistently stands on the right side of history," Xi affirmed.
He also asserted that China's reunification remains inevitable and that the people of Taiwan and the mainland share deep-rooted connections.
"The reunification of our motherland, a prevailing trend of the times, is unpreventable," Xi declared while delivering his New Year’s message in Beijing.
Regarding Hong Kong and Macao, Xi stated that the one country, two systems policy must be firmly upheld, allowing the two special administrative regions to better integrate into the nation's overall development while ensuring long-term prosperity and stability.
In his 2026 New Year message, Xi highlighted that China has deeply integrated science and technology with industries, resulting in a series of innovations, including several large AI models competing for supremacy.
"All this has transformed China into one of the economies with the most rapidly growing innovation capabilities," Xi remarked.
The Tianwen-2 probe has embarked on its mission to explore asteroids and comets. The construction of a hydropower project at the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River has commenced. Additionally, China’s first aircraft carrier equipped with an electromagnetic catapult system has been officially launched. Humanoid robots demonstrated kung fu kicks, while drones put on impressive light displays, he added.
"Innovations and inventions have enhanced new quality productive forces and enriched our lives," Xi concluded.
