Coalition Forces from the US and UK Launch Airstrikes in Hodeidah, Yemen

Sanaa, Dec 31 (NationPress) A coalition comprising US and British naval forces executed two airstrikes in Yemen's Hodeidah province, focusing on the At-Tuhayta district located in the southwest, as reported by Houthi media.

While the report lacked additional details, residents took to social media to describe feeling two intense explosions that rattled their homes.

The US Central Command has yet to provide commentary on these events, although it generally releases a statement afterward to confirm any airstrikes carried out by its forces.

The Houthi group, which maintains control over significant portions of northern Yemen, has consistently launched rocket and drone assaults targeting Israel and interfering with 'Israeli-linked' maritime operations in the Red Sea since November 2023. This has been framed as a gesture of support for Palestinians amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, as reported by Xinhua news agency and cited by Houthi-controlled al-Masirah TV.

Prior to this, on December 27, the coalition executed an airstrike on the Houthi-controlled Yemeni capital of Sanaa, aiming at the 1st Armor Division situated in the city.

The 1st Armor Division was a military installation under Houthi authority.

This airstrike reverberated throughout the city, prompting ambulances to rush to the affected site.

The latest airstrike followed a series of airstrikes launched by Israel on December 26, which targeted various Houthi facilities in Yemen, including an airport, two power stations, and several ports. This Israeli operation, marking the fourth of the year, resulted in at least 6 fatalities and 40 injuries, as reported by Houthi media.

On December 22, the coalition targeted a Houthi installation in Yemen's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah.

The strike was directed at a facility in the Al-Luhayyah area of Hodeidah, according to al-Masirah, which did not disclose further specifics or any casualty numbers.

The US Central Command announced through a message on X that its forces had performed precise airstrikes on both a missile storage site and a command-and-control center operated by the Houthis in the capital, Sanaa.

Command forces also successfully intercepted several Houthi one-way attack drones and an anti-ship cruise missile over the Red Sea, as stated in their communication.

These airstrikes occurred shortly after the Houthis claimed responsibility for a ballistic missile assault on central Israel, which resulted in injuries to at least 20 individuals in Tel Aviv.

Since November 2023, the Houthis have been actively executing rocket and drone strikes on Israeli urban areas while disrupting operations linked to 'Israeli' shipping in the Red Sea.

In retaliation, the US-led naval coalition stationed in the region has been conducting regular air raids against Houthi targets since January, aiming to deter the militant group.
