Coalition Forces Conduct Three Airstrikes in Northern Yemen

Sanaa, Jan 5 (NationPress) A coalition led by the US executed three airstrikes in Yemen's northern province of Saada on Sunday morning, according to reports from the Houthi-operated al-Masirah TV.

Residents indicated on social media that the strikes were aimed at a military installation associated with the Houthi faction in the city.

As of now, the US military has not provided any comments regarding these allegations.

On Tuesday, the US Central Command released a statement indicating that US forces had carried out several precision strikes targeting Houthi positions in the capital of Yemen to diminish their threat to regional allies.

The Houthi group, which holds sway over a significant portion of northern Yemen, has been launching continuous rocket and drone assaults against Israel and disrupting Israeli-linked shipping in the Red Sea since November 2023, in solidarity with the Palestinian cause, as reported by the Xinhua news agency. In retaliation, the US-led naval coalition stationed in the region has frequently executed air raids against Houthi targets to deter their actions, which has led the Houthis to broaden their assaults to include US naval vessels.

Previously, on December 31, 2024, a series of airstrikes led by the US had struck the capital city, Sanaa, targeting military facilities under Houthi control, as reported by al-Masirah TV.

Two of the airstrikes impacted the Defence Ministry building and surrounding areas in downtown Sanaa, while others targeted the 1st Armor Division and an ammunition manufacturing facility in the heart of the city, according to al-Masirah TV, though no further details were provided.

Emergency services were observed rushing to the targeted locations as Houthi forces secured the sites. Local residents reported that the powerful airstrikes shook the entire city, with some nearby homes suffering partial damage.

It is believed that numerous Houthi fighters were present at these locations during the strikes, but the Houthi group seldom discloses information about its casualties or losses.

These airstrikes occurred shortly after the Houthi group claimed responsibility for missile assaults targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and a power station to the south of Jerusalem, along with rocket and drone attacks on the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman.

In the aftermath of these fierce airstrikes, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) released a statement on the social media platform X, confirming that its forces had conducted multiple precision strikes since Monday against Houthi targets in Sanaa and along Houthi-controlled coastal areas in Yemen.

According to the statement, "On December 30 and 31, US Navy vessels and aircraft targeted a Houthi command and control facility, as well as advanced conventional weapon (ACW) production and storage sites, which included missiles and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAV)."
