US Strikes Houthi Military Facility in Yemen's Capital

Sanaa, Dec 17 (NationPress) A US military aircraft executed an airstrike targeting the Defence Ministry structure in the Houthi-controlled Yemeni capital, Sanaa, late on Monday night.
The Houthi-operated al-Masirah TV reported that the 'US aggression' occurred overnight, emphasizing that the group has pledged to retaliate by attacking 'US interests and shipping in the Red Sea.'
Witnesses in the area reported observing multiple ambulances entering the site late on Monday, as Houthi militants secured the vicinity in downtown Sanaa until the early hours of Tuesday.
The US Central Command verified in a statement that it carried out a 'precision airstrike' on a significant command and control facility controlled by the Iran-backed Houthis within the Houthi-dominated territory in Sanaa, Yemen.
According to the statement, 'The facility was a central hub for coordinating Houthi operations, including attacks against US Navy warships and merchant vessels in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.'
This airstrike was executed shortly after the Houthi group claimed responsibility for launching a 'hypersonic missile' aimed at the Israeli city of Tel Aviv on the same day, asserting it hit a 'military target' and promising to undertake further strikes.
Reports from Israeli media indicated that sirens were activated in Tel Aviv after a rocket was detected being launched from Yemen, as noted by the Xinhua news agency.
Additionally, on the same Monday, al-Masirah TV reported a US attack on the southern perimeter of the Midi district in Yemen's northwestern Hajjah province. As per two Yemeni military sources, the strike targeted a mobile rocket launcher belonging to the Houthi group situated near the Red Sea. The US military has yet to provide comments on this alleged airstrike.
Since November 2023, the Houthi group has intensified its rocket and drone assaults on Israeli cities and has disrupted 'Israeli-linked' shipping activities in the Red Sea.
In reaction, the US-led naval coalition present in the region has been conducting regular airstrikes on Houthi positions since January, aiming to deter the armed group.
