Islamabad, April 19 (NationPress) A total of four terrorists were neutralized during a coordinated operation conducted by security forces and law enforcement agencies in the northwest region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to military reports.

The intelligence-driven operation took place in the Swat district of the province, as stated by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media branch of the Pakistan Army, on Friday.

During this operation, security forces confronted the terrorists at their hideout, ultimately killing all four. The ISPR further reported that a significant cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the terrorists' location, as reported by Xinhua.

The terrorists who were killed had been implicated in various terror activities throughout the region, as per the statement.

Earlier, on Wednesday, security forces had also eliminated four terrorists in an intelligence-led operation in the Maddi area of Dera Ismail Khan district.

In related news, ARY News reported that during the first quarter of 2025, terror attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa led to the deaths of 152 individuals, which included police officers, security personnel, and civilians.

A report from the KP Police indicated that 302 people were injured during these incidents.

The report highlighted that civilians bore the brunt of these attacks, with 45 fatalities and 127 injuries reported between January and March.

The police force lost 37 members, with another 46 sustaining injuries.

Moreover, the Frontier Corps (FC) recorded 34 personnel losses, with 43 more wounded in these attacks, as reported by ARY News.

According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), the nation witnessed a notable surge in terrorist activities in January 2025, marking a 42 percent increase compared to the previous month.

The report revealed that there were at least 74 militant attacks nationwide, which resulted in 91 deaths, including 35 security personnel, 20 civilians, and 36 militants.

In addition, 117 individuals were injured, comprising 53 security force members, 54 civilians, and 10 militants.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was identified as the most severely affected province, followed by Balochistan.

In settled districts of KP, militants executed 27 attacks, resulting in 19 fatalities, including 11 security personnel, 6 civilians, and 2 militants.
