Ghana Police Detain Electoral Commission Official for Election Violation During Ongoing Voting

Accra, Dec 7 (NationPress) A representative of Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC) has been taken into custody in the Bono East Region during the ongoing general election in Ghana, the police announced on Saturday.

The official is accused of distributing ballot papers to voters that did not include the first presidential candidate on the ballot, according to a statement released by the police, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

"The suspect is currently under investigation for issuing approximately 15 ballot papers to voters that failed to include the first presidential candidate at the Ampesika-Bayere polling station," the statement noted.

On this day, Ghanaians are participating in a general election to select a President and 276 parliament members.

The polls are slated to conclude at exactly 5 p.m. local time, followed by the counting of votes and announcements at the polling station levels.
