Thirty Suspects Detained by Ghanaian Authorities Amid Post-Election Unrest

Accra, Dec 9 (NationPress) A total of 30 suspects have been detained in Ghana for looting and causing property damage during the post-election unrest, according to Ghanaian police.
The authorities announced late Sunday that medical officials confirmed the death of a suspect who was shot by an accomplice during an incident, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Furthermore, an official from Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC), who was injured in the violence, is currently receiving care at a medical facility.
The police have urged the public to remain calm, stating that intelligence-led operations are fully underway to apprehend other individuals involved in electoral violence. Increased patrols have also been initiated to uphold law and order.
On Saturday, Ghanaians voted to choose a new president and 276 parliamentarians. Former President John Dramani Mahama, leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress, declared his victory on social media on Sunday.
As of Monday morning, the EC had yet to officially release the final results.
