Houthi Forces Announce Attack on U.S. Naval Vessel and Supply Ships

Sanaa, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Houthi group from Yemen has proclaimed that it successfully targeted a U.S. destroyer and three military supply vessels in a 'qualitative and joint military operation.'

Yahya Sarea, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, stated, 'We executed an operation aimed at an American destroyer and three supply vessels belonging to the U.S. military,' as reported by the Xinhua news agency, citing the Houthi-operated al-Masirah TV channel.

He identified the vessels as the 'Stena Impeccable', 'Maersk Saratoga', and 'Liberty Grace', but refrained from disclosing the name of the targeted destroyer.

The operation, carried out in the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden, reportedly utilized 16 ballistic and winged missiles, along with a drone, according to Sarea. He characterized the strikes as 'accurate and direct.'

Sarea issued a warning that the Houthis would escalate their military actions within the designated maritime operations zone, which includes the Red Sea and Arabian Sea, until Israel ceases its activities in Gaza.

'We will persist in conducting military operations at an escalating pace against Israel and the United States of America,' he asserted.

Earlier today, the Houthis took responsibility for launching a rocket towards Israel, claiming it struck a 'vital target' in the Jaffa area. However, reports from Israeli media indicated that the Israel Defence Forces intercepted and destroyed the rocket, which had been launched from northern Yemen, early on Sunday.

Since November 2023, the Houthi militia, which maintains control over a significant portion of northern Yemen, has ramped up its assaults on Israeli cities and has disrupted shipping linked to Israel in the Red Sea. The group has framed these actions as a show of solidarity with the Palestinians amid the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
