Indonesia Pursues Collaborations with Aircraft Manufacturers to Enhance Airline Fleet

Jakarta, Dec 5 (NationPress) Indonesia is actively seeking collaborations with aircraft manufacturers to increase the fleet size of its state-owned airlines, as revealed by a minister on Thursday.

"Ideally, we should possess a minimum of 700 aircraft. However, in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, our current fleet stands at only 390. To address this gap, we are looking to partner with Airbus, Boeing, COMAC from China, or Russian manufacturers. As an archipelagic nation, it is imperative for us to have a larger fleet of aircraft," stated Indonesian Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir in Jakarta.

Thohir mentioned that he has already begun collaboration with Boeing and is ready to facilitate investment opportunities for other interested companies entering Indonesia, according to a report by Xinhua news agency.

"We aim to ensure seamless trade operations. Export-import banks and leasing firms can engage directly with Garuda, Citilink, and Pelita, coordinating with each airline's specific roadmap," he added.
