Iran Offers Support to the US Amid Ongoing Wildfires

Tehran, Jan 12 (NationPress) The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has declared its readiness to dispatch specialised rapid reaction teams, rescue equipment, and trained personnel to the United States, in response to the devastating wildfires affecting Los Angeles County.
IRCS President Pirhossein Kolivand conveyed this message in a communication to Cliff Holtz, the CEO of the American Red Cross, on Saturday. He expressed heartfelt condolences for the casualties caused by the wildfires, as detailed in a press release from the IRCS website, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
Kolivand highlighted that the extensive wildfires, which have ravaged large portions of the United States, have destroyed numerous homes and lives, jeopardised the safety of thousands, and turned the nation’s beautiful landscapes into ashes. He described this crisis not only as a national emergency but also as a blow to humanity, causing distress to all responsible and compassionate individuals worldwide.
“I assure you, on behalf of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, that you are not alone during these challenging times,” Kolivand stated, adding that controlling the wildfires in the United States necessitates international cooperation.
“Utilising our vast experience in managing natural and humanitarian disasters, we at the Iranian Red Crescent Society are prepared to promptly send our specialised rapid reaction teams, rescue equipment, and dedicated, trained personnel to provide assistance,” he mentioned.
“We are awaiting your response to facilitate necessary coordination,” Kolivand added.
These wildfires, characterized as some of the worst in the area’s history, have resulted in the destruction of over 12,300 structures and claimed at least 11 lives as of Friday. Officials caution that the full death toll may remain uncertain until it is safe for investigators to access affected neighborhoods.
Additionally, the entertainment sector has experienced significant disruption due to the fires, power outages, and toxic air quality. Numerous film and television productions have been halted, along with various premieres and events, due to the unpredictable spread of the fires and hazardous air conditions.
