Israeli Airstrikes on Houthi Targets in Yemen Result in Nine Fatalities

Sanaa, Dec 19 (NationPress) Early on Thursday, Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of at least nine individuals and injuries to several others in Yemen's capital and the Red Sea ports of the Hodeidah province, according to reports from Houthi-operated al-Masirah TV.
The broadcaster indicated that seven fatalities occurred at the port of As-Salif, while two others lost their lives at the Ras Issa oil facility. Additionally, at least three individuals sustained injuries during these strikes.
Residents in Hodeidah shared videos on social media showing flames engulfing various facilities at the ports of Ras Issa and As-Salif, with reports indicating that the fires were still active.
In Sanaa, al-Masirah TV reported that the Israeli strikes targeted the Hizyaz and Dhahban power stations, located in the southern and northern regions of Sanaa, respectively.
The impact of the airstrikes reverberated throughout Sanaa, shattering windows in nearby homes, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The Houthi group, which governs a significant portion of northern Yemen, utilizes the ports of Ras Issa and As-Salif for importing fuel and cooking gas, distributing these resources to the populations in their controlled areas.
Reports from al-Masirah TV state that the Israeli airstrikes followed a day after a US Navy airstrike targeted the Houthi-controlled defence ministry building in downtown Sanaa, causing considerable damage, and just hours after the Houthi group fired a long-range rocket toward Israel.
Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed the airstrikes, accusing the Houthis of forcing millions of Israeli civilians into bomb shelters on Wednesday night. He stated that the Israeli army executed precise strikes on Houthi military installations in Yemen.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz also issued a warning to Houthi leaders, asserting that Israel's long arm would reach them and that the nation would not permit the ongoing missile attacks and threats.
Since October 2023, Houthi forces have been conducting attacks against Israel, including launching drones and surface-to-surface missiles, in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
