Seoul, March 25 (NationPress) Second Vice Foreign Minister Kang In-sun convened with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed to explore avenues for cooperation regarding North Korean issues, as reported by the foreign ministry on Tuesday.
This meeting occurred on Monday in New York during Kang's four-day official visit, which also featured a high-level open debate on UN peace operations and a briefing on the situation in Syria, according to a report by Yonhap news agency.
During the discussions, Kang urged the United Nations to maintain its stance by issuing robust condemnations against North Korea’s violations of UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, particularly regarding its illicit military cooperation with Russia.
Kang also held a separate dialogue with Haoliang Xu, the associate administrator of the UN Development Programme, where she suggested enhancing the effectiveness and impact of their joint projects.
While attending a UNSC high-level open debate on advancing UN peace operations on Monday, the vice foreign minister highlighted the necessity of tailoring missions to fit each peace operation unit, aiming for the UNSC to adeptly address evolving global realities, as indicated by the ministry.
