Abu Dhabi, Feb 17 (NationPress) The MArG 155mm/45 Cal mounted gun system was unveiled at IDEX in Abu Dhabi during the 17th edition of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and the 8th edition of the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX).
The IDEX and NAVDEX events unite notable global companies and specialists in the defence sector to present the latest advancements and solutions designed to bolster global peace and security.
An official revealed that over 50 Indian firms are showcased at IDEX, including TATA Advanced Systems, Bharat Electronics Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited, DRDO, and BrahMos Aerospace.
Additionally, Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited, a fully-owned defence branch of Bharat Forge, introduced the MArG 45 mobile gun system mounted on a 4x4 all-terrain vehicle.
The launch was officiated by H.E. Sunjay Sudhir, the Ambassador of India to the UAE, underlining India’s dedication to enhancing global defence technology.
Baba Kalyani, Chairman & MD of Bharat Forge Ltd., stated that this Mounted Gun Platform signifies a substantial advancement in defence technology, highlighting their commitment to innovation and excellence.
“It exemplifies our ability to create ‘Designed and Made in India’ advanced artillery defence platforms. The MArG 45 showcases the Group's ingenuity in redefining norms, combining firepower, range, and mobility into a unique platform. Engineered for swift deployment and exceptional maneuverability, it is a ‘go-anywhere’ gun with unmatched shoot-and-scoot capabilities,” he commented.
The MArG 45 delivers unparalleled firepower, with a capability to fire beyond 36 km using standard ammunition. Designed for superior mobility, its custom-built chassis, crafted in-house, guarantees maximum agility in various combat scenarios.
This system is compatible with NATO-standard and currently in-use ammunition, enhancing its adaptability.
Weighing 23.5 tons, it can carry 18 rounds with Zone 6 on board, facilitating extended operations. Engineered for quick deployment, it boasts a reaction time of merely 1.5 minutes during the day and 2 minutes at night.
With a vertical range of -2° to +72° and a horizontal rotation of 25° left and right, it guarantees exceptional battlefield versatility. The gun exhibits a high firing rate of 10 rounds in three minutes and a sustained rate of 42 rounds in an hour, assuring continuous firepower in combat situations.
Under the auspices of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) commenced at the ADNEC Centre. The 2025 edition of IDEX and NAVDEX has seen a boost in participating firms, totaling 1,565 from 65 nations, marking a 16 percent increase compared to the last edition.
The overall exhibition area has grown by 10 percent to 181,501 square meters, while 731 new companies are taking part, signifying an 82 percent increment.
This edition features 41 national pavilions. The count of national companies has reached 213, comprising 16 percent of exhibitors, while international companies account for 84 percent.
This year’s exhibitions also welcome seven new nations: Qatar, Ethiopia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, and Cyprus.
Moreover, a dedicated CBRNE platform, featuring participation from 38 companies across 13 countries, has been launched to enhance awareness regarding chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive threats.
NAVDEX 2025 gathers key industry stakeholders, decision-makers, influencers, and naval defence specialists to deliberate and shape the future of the maritime domain.
The eighth edition offers a stage to exhibit the latest maritime technologies globally and review contemporary technological progress in naval defence.
NAVDEX features live demonstrations of naval vessels and cutting-edge technologies, with Abu Dhabi hosting warships from various nations at the ADNEC Marina.
