New Delhi, March 2 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a telephonic discussion with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday, during which he expressed strong condemnation of the recent assaults on the nation.

Both leaders concurred that the prompt restoration of peace and stability in the region is essential.

"Had a conversation regarding the unfolding circumstances in West Asia with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. India unequivocally condemns the recent assaults on Saudi Arabia that violate its sovereignty and territorial integrity. We both acknowledged that restoring regional peace and stability at the earliest is critically important. I expressed my gratitude to him for his efforts in ensuring the welfare of the Indian community during these challenging times," PM Modi shared on X.

Earlier on the same day, the Ras Tanura oil refinery experienced minor damage due to debris from the interception of two drones nearby, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency, citing an official from the Ministry of Energy. The incident resulted in a limited fire that was swiftly managed by emergency response teams, with no reported casualties.

As a precaution, certain operational units at the refinery were temporarily shut down, but there was no disruption to the supply of petroleum products to local markets, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

On February 28, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Iranian attacks targeting the Riyadh Region and Eastern Province, stating their readiness to take all necessary measures to protect the nation's security and safeguard its citizens and territory.

"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia firmly rejects and condemns the brazen and cowardly Iranian attacks on the Riyadh Region and Eastern Province, which were intercepted successfully. These attacks are unjustifiable under any circumstances and occurred despite the Iranian authorities’ awareness that the Kingdom would not permit its airspace or territory to be utilized for attacks against Iran," stated Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on X.

"In response to this unwarranted aggression, the Kingdom asserts its commitment to take all necessary actions to defend its security and protect its territory, citizens, and residents, including the option of retaliating against the aggression," it added.

The latest unrest in West Asia escalated following joint US-Israel strikes against Iran, aimed at crippling Tehran's missile capabilities and broader military infrastructure.

The initial wave of these operations led to the deaths of prominent figures in the Iranian leadership, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, triggering a fierce response from Iran, which included drone and missile strikes targeting US assets, regional capitals, and allied forces across West Asia.
