North Korea Condemns South Korea-US-Japan Discussions on Indo-Pacific as a 'Disgrace' to Peace

Seoul, Dec 21 (NationPress) North Korea on Saturday condemned a recent trilateral meeting involving South Korea, the US, and Japan that focused on peace in the Indo-Pacific region, dismissing the discussions as a 'disgrace' to peace.

North Korea's primary newspaper criticized the trilateral Indo-Pacific Dialogue, which took place in Tokyo on December 11, accusing Washington of being a 'gangster-like' nation undermining peace, with its Asian allies serving as accomplices.

The Roddong Sinmun reported, citing Yonhap news agency, that 'The United States' history itself is one of war globally, and its foreign policy is consistently marked by the evil of invading other nations and causing destruction to peace and safety.'

The publication dismissed Japan as a nation striving for peace, referencing its defense cooperation guidelines with the US and its security legislation permitting collective self-defense. Furthermore, it characterized South Korea as the 'vanguard of US policies advocating invasion and warfare.'

'The United States is an empire of evil and a gangster-like country destroying peace,' it stated. 'Japan and puppet South Korea are equally culpable.'

During this month's discussions, the three nations recognized the necessity to investigate ways to collectively foster peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region, according to Seoul's foreign ministry. This meeting was the second of its kind following the inaugural session in January.

The discussions occurred as South Korea, the US, and Japan aimed to strengthen trilateral security cooperation in response to evolving North Korean nuclear and missile threats.
