New Delhi, March 9 (NationPress) BJP MP Anurag Thakur remarked on Monday that the government has already articulated India’s stance regarding the ongoing West Asia crisis. He highlighted that External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar provided an extensive statement in Parliament that addressed various concerns, including the safety of Indian citizens in the area and the nation’s energy security. Thakur accused the Opposition of displaying confusion about its own position on the matter.

In his comments to reporters, Thakur stated that in the current global environment, the measures undertaken by India to ensure the well-being and security of Indians, both domestically and internationally, had been thoroughly detailed by Jaishankar.

“In the prevailing global scenario, the actions India has taken for its citizens, both at home and abroad, were comprehensively outlined by our Foreign Minister. This covered all aspects, from energy security to the welfare of individuals,” he noted.

The BJP leader claimed that the Opposition seemed uncertain about its own stance. He pointed out that while the Opposition introduced a no-confidence motion against the Speaker, they were now evading discussions on the issue.

“Regrettably, the Opposition appears to be unaware of its own course of action. They have a pending no-confidence motion against the Speaker, yet when it comes time to debate, they demonstrate a lack of capability, logic, and factual basis,” Thakur asserted.

“Instead of addressing the pending issue, they are raising new demands and calling for fresh debates. We have never witnessed such an ineffective, illogical, and unfounded Opposition that seems utterly perplexed,” he added.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy stated that Jaishankar had effectively clarified India’s position on the geopolitical situation while underscoring the significance of national unity during global crises.

“In times of geopolitical tensions or conflict, what should any Indian, whether in the Opposition or the ruling party, do? One should foster confidence and unite with the nation,” he emphasized, noting that India’s diplomatic strategy of remaining neutral in international conflicts demonstrated the success of its foreign policy.

BJP MP Hema Malini also commended the minister’s statement in the Rajya Sabha, declaring that it comprehensively addressed the situation.

“The Foreign Minister delivered a commendable statement, tackling all the challenges and proposing solutions. However, the Opposition seemed unwilling to listen,” she remarked.

Earlier, Jaishankar briefed the Rajya Sabha on the evolving situation in West Asia and outlined the government’s position regarding the crisis. He informed the House that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was closely monitoring the developments.

Jaishankar noted that the situation is particularly concerning for India as a significant number of Indian nationals reside and work across the Gulf region. He also discussed matters regarding the safety and evacuation of Indians, as well as the potential impacts on the country’s energy security.

Jaishankar explained that the conflict escalated following U.S.–Israeli strikes on Iran, which reportedly inflicted considerable damage and resulted in the deaths of several senior leaders of the Islamic regime, thereby heightening tensions throughout the region.

The minister stated, “Our government had released a statement on February 20 expressing deep concerns and urging all parties to exercise restraint, avoid escalation, and prioritize civilian safety. We continue to advocate for dialogue and diplomacy to alleviate tensions.”

He further emphasized the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states within the region.

Jaishankar informed the House that the Cabinet Committee on Security, headed by PM Modi, had reviewed the evolving situation and acknowledged the challenges faced by Indians living and traveling through the region.
