Islamabad, May 12 (NationPress) The Director General of Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (DGISPR) has categorically rejected allegations of having an Indian female pilot in custody, labeling it a part of a disinformation strategy aimed at misleading the public amidst the latest heightened tensions between the neighboring nations.
In a recent press briefing alongside senior officials from the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Lt. General Ahmed Shareef Chaudhry urged the public to remain vigilant against false narratives.
"I can state unequivocally that we do not have any Indian pilot detained. This is merely chatter on social media. It is an extension of the false news and propaganda emanating from various channels," remarked Chaudhry.
This clarification from the DGISPR has effectively dispelled the rumors suggesting that Pakistan had shot down an Indian jet and captured a female Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot. Reports from international media, along with various videos circulating online that depict locals claiming to have seen the Indian pilot parachuting into the mountains, have all been thoroughly discredited.
According to Zubair, a local resident of Islamabad, "Al-Jazeera reported from Pakistani government and security sources that an Indian pilot had been apprehended and two jets downed. There are videos on social media documenting locals in Kotli, Kashmir, eagerly searching the mountains for the Indian pilot whom they allegedly saw descend via parachute."
The speculation surrounding the supposed capture of an IAF pilot has stirred memories of February 2019 when IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was taken into custody by the Pakistani military and subsequently released.
Another local from Kotli remarked, "We recall how Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan was captured and how the phrase ‘tea is fantastic’ became a viral sensation at that time."
It's important to highlight that Indian military officials have confirmed that all IAF pilots involved in Operation Sindoor are indeed safe.
