Pentagon Expresses Frustration as Calls for Action Rise Over Unidentified Drones

New York, Dec 15 (NationPress) With rising concerns surrounding unidentified drones, the Pentagon has voiced its frustration regarding their operations over military sites, leading state officials and legislators to press President Joe Biden's administration for a response.
A representative from the Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed on Saturday evening that drones have been detected above two military facilities in New Jersey. However, they stated, 'We don't know what the activity is. We don't know if it is criminal. But I will tell you that it is irresponsible. Here on the military side, we are just as frustrated with the irresponsible nature of this activity.'
These drones, which have been troubling regions in the northeast for over a month, have highlighted the vulnerabilities of the United States and other nations to Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), which can be utilized for surveillance or potentially by terrorists.
Despite having extensive surveillance capabilities, the government seems unable to decipher the mystery of these drones operating merely 325 kilometers from its capital.
President-Elect Donald Trump noted on Truth Social, 'Mystery Drone sightings all over the Country. Can this really be happening without our government’s knowledge? I don’t think so! Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!!!'
Phil Murphy, the Democrat Governor of New Jersey, communicated to Biden that his state's residents 'deserve more concrete information' regarding these UAS sightings and their causes.
Reiterating previous statements from National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and other officials, the Joint Chiefs representative claimed they had 'no intelligence or observations' linking the drones to a 'foreign actor' or indicating any 'malicious intent.'
'But, we don't know. We have not been able to locate or identify the operators or the points of origin.' admitted the spokesperson.
'This has gone too far', expressed New York's Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul, showing frustration towards federal inaction.
Under existing laws, only the federal authorities can address drone issues, prompting Hochul and others from both political parties to demand similar powers for state and local law enforcement.
Chris Smith, a Republican House member from New Jersey, which has reported the majority of sightings, announced plans to introduce relevant legislation.
Hochul revealed that drones temporarily halted operations for about an hour on Friday night at Stewart Airport, where large C-17 Globemaster military aircraft are stationed.
Members from both parties are calling for significant actions against the drones.
Democratic Senator from Connecticut, Richard Blumenthal, stated, 'They should be shot down, if necessary, because they're flying over sensitive areas.'
The increase in drone activity has sparked memories of a Chinese spy balloon that drifted across the US last year, passing over sensitive sites for a week before the Biden administration finally brought it down over the ocean.
The large balloon was reported to carry surveillance equipment comparable in size to two railway coaches.
Another Republican House member, Jeff Van Drew, alleged that the drones were originating from an Iranian 'mother ship' off the coast of New Jersey.
However, Deputy Pentagon Spokesperson Sabrina Singh clarified, 'There is no Iranian ship off the coast of the United States', adding that there is no evidence of foreign involvement in the drone activities.
For over a month, residents in New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut have reported sightings of drones flying at low altitudes, some reportedly the size of a car.
According to the Ocean County sheriff's office in New Jersey, their drone spotted a mysterious UAS flying at approximately 100 kph, a speed exceeding that of most commercial drones.
New Jersey Republican Assemblywoman Dawn Fantasia mentioned on X that the UAS measured six feet in diameter and occasionally flew with their lights turned off.
