New Delhi, Jan 19 (NationPress) Emphasizing the issues of cross-border terrorism that India confronts, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar called upon Poland to maintain a stance of zero tolerance towards terrorism and avoid contributing to the terrorist infrastructure in India's vicinity.

During a meeting with Polish Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski in New Delhi, EAM Jaishankar acknowledged the steady progress in relations between India and Poland, while stressing that these ties require ongoing attention.

"Deputy Prime Minister, you are well-acquainted with our region and the persistent issues of cross-border terrorism. I look forward to discussing your recent visits to the area. Poland must exhibit zero tolerance for terrorism and refrain from aiding the terrorist infrastructure in our neighbourhood," he remarked.

He further emphasized India's position on the Ukraine conflict, describing the selective targeting of New Delhi as unfair and unjustified.

EAM Jaishankar pointed out that he and Sikorski are convening at a time of significant global upheaval and underscored the importance of sharing insights and perspectives, as both India and Poland face unique challenges and opportunities.

"Today, our dialogue will naturally encompass regional and global developments. Particularly, an exchange of evaluations regarding our respective neighbourhoods will be beneficial. You have publicly addressed this during your visit as well," he noted.

"Recently, in New York last September and Paris this January, I candidly articulated our views on the Ukraine conflict and its repercussions. While doing so, I have consistently highlighted that the selective targeting of India is both unfair and unjustified. I reiterate this once again today," added the EAM.

Praising the bilateral relationship, EAM Jaishankar stated, "Our bilateral ties have steadily advanced, but still require ongoing attention. India and Poland have historically shared warm and amicable relations. Recent years have seen high-level political exchanges and dynamic economic and people-to-people connections," referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Poland in August 2024, which elevated their bilateral ties to a strategic partnership.

EAM Jaishankar remarked that Poland stands as one of India's largest trading partners in Central Europe, with bilateral trade amounting to approximately $7 billion. He also noted that Indian investments in Poland have exceeded $3 billion, generating numerous job opportunities for the Polish people.

"Today, Deputy Prime Minister, we will assess the action plan for 2024-28 aimed at realizing the full potential of our strategic partnership. We will also explore methods to enhance our collaboration in trade and investment, defense and security technologies, and digital innovation," he stated.
