Six Suspected Rebels Killed in Philippine Military Clash

Manila, Dec 3 (NationPress) Philippine soldiers took down six supposed rebels in a confrontation, the military announced on Tuesday.
The military reported that the clash between government forces and the New People's Army (NPA) erupted on Monday in Las Navas, Northern Samar province, as indicated by the Xinhua news agency.
The bodies of six rebels were recovered by the military alongside several weapons and ammunition at the scene of the conflict.
There were no casualties among the soldiers during this encounter.
The NPA has been engaged in conflict with government forces since 1969. Military statistics reveal that the strength of the NPA has diminished from its peak of approximately 25,000 armed members in the 1980s.
Although its numbers have dwindled, the NPA continues to carry out small-scale assaults in rural areas.
