Sri Lanka Targets $15 Billion Revenue from Digital Economy in Five Years

Colombo, Dec 6 (NationPress) The government of Sri Lanka has set an ambitious target to achieve $15 billion in revenue through the digital economy within the next five years, according to information from the President's Media Division (PMD).

On Thursday, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake stated this goal, as shared by the PMD. He mentioned that the digital workforce would be expanded to 200,000 individuals, and the entire nation would undergo digitisation within the next five years.

During a meeting with officials, Dissanayake stressed the importance of collaboration from all professionals to facilitate the country's digital transformation, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

The president also pointed out the government's key objectives, which include eradicating poverty, transforming societal attitudes, and advancing digitalisation.
