Dhaka, Dec 22 (NationPress) A leader of the student-driven National Citizen Party (NCP) was shot by assailants in Khulna, Bangladesh, on Monday, only days after the assassination of radical Islamist leader Sharif Osman Hadi. The victim, identified as 42-year-old Mohammad Motaleb Sikder, held the position of Khulna divisional chief for the NCP and was also a central organiser for NCP Sramik Shakti.
The shooting took place around 11:45 a.m. near Gazi Medical College Hospital in the Sonadanga area of Khulna.
Witnesses at the scene promptly transported Motaleb to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where he was later moved to the City Diagnostic Centre for a CT scan. His condition remains critical.
