Syrian Air Defense Forces Thwart Drone Assaults Over Homs: Reports

Damascus, Dec 3 (NationPress) Syrian air defense systems successfully intercepted several drones above the city of Homs, resulting in explosions that were audible across the region, as reported by local sources.
The detonations on Monday evening occurred as anti-aircraft defenses engaged multiple unmanned aerial vehicles in the skies over Homs, according to Xinhua news agency, which cited the pro-government news outlet Al-Watan Online.
The Syrian government routinely attributes these sorts of drone and missile strikes to opposition forces or extremist factions operating within its borders.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage stemming from the interceptions.
This incident coincides with escalating hostilities in northern Syria, where rebel groups have initiated extensive attacks against government-controlled territories. The Syrian army is currently involved in intense combat in the northern countryside of Hama, striving to thwart rebel advances.
Homs, recognized as Syria's third-largest city, has been under government control since 2014, following a series of ceasefires and evacuations of areas previously held by rebels.
