Syria's Interim Foreign Minister Commits to Inclusive Representation

Damascus, Dec 25 (NationPress) Asaad al-Shaibani, appointed as the foreign minister by Syria's interim administration, has vowed to focus on serving the populace and representing every segment of society, declaring that the nation will restore its regional and international standing.

In a series of updates on the social media platform X, al-Shaibani stressed that safeguarding citizens' rights and interests, along with ensuring equitable representation for all ethnic and social groups, will be the guiding principle for Syria's future.

He remarked that “in the new Syria, everyone will feel they belong,” adding that the government seeks to ensure dignity, freedom, and a safe return for those displaced by previous conflicts, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Recognizing the challenges faced by the Syrian populace, al-Shaibani underscored “the immense sacrifices and suffering” they have endured.

“Our only homage to those victims,” he stated, “is to guarantee such atrocities never recur and to hold the offenders accountable.”

Regarding Syria's status on the global stage, al-Shaibani asserted he would represent the country “with sincerity and strength,” highlighting the interim government's dedication to forging a “brighter future.” He also encouraged Syrian youth to play an active role in the nation’s reconstruction and steer it towards innovation and advancement.

“We need the contributions of all young Syrians to shape the present and outline the future,” he said.

In another update on X, al-Shaibani cautioned Iran against “spreading chaos” in Syria, urging the nation to “respect the will of the Syrian people.” Iran has long been a significant ally of Bashar al-Assad, the former president of Syria, who was removed from power on December 8 following a series of offensives led by a militant coalition known as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

Born in 1987, al-Shaibani was appointed on Saturday by the Syrian interim administration, which is backed by HTS. He is recognized for his crucial role as the leader of HTS's political affairs department.
