Tragic Accident in Mexico Claims Eight Lives as Bus Crashes into Trailer Truck

Washington, Dec 28 (NationPress) At least eight individuals have lost their lives and 27 others sustained injuries following a collision between a passenger bus and a semi-trailer truck in eastern Mexico, according to local officials.

The accident took place early on Friday along the Perote-Xalapa highway near Los Molinos in the eastern region of Veracruz, resulting in the deaths of three men, four women, and one minor, as reported by the Veracruz State Attorney General's Office.

The Xalapa regional prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of this tragic event.

As per local media reports, the ADO bus was en route from Mexico City to Xalapa, and it seems that the bus driver did not see the semi-trailer, leading to the unfortunate collision.

Rocio Nahle, the Governor of Veracruz, announced on social media that the state is collaborating with the federal government to assist the affected passengers and their families.

This devastating accident occurred just a day after another traffic incident in the western state of Michoacan, where at least six lives were claimed, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

In a separate incident on Thursday, six individuals were killed and two others seriously injured in a traffic collision in the western Mexican state of Michoacan, as stated by the local town hall.

The crash involved a white pickup truck carrying three young people and a grey car with a family, occurring on the Los Reyes-Jacona highway near the town of La Ventilla in Tocumbo, as mentioned by Jose Luis Alcazar, the municipal president of Tocumbo.

"We share in the grief of the families affected by this irreplaceable loss and extend our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time," Alcazar expressed.

The site of the accident was secured by municipal police while the General Prosecutor's Office of Michoacan, based in Tocumbo and Jiquilpan, conducted the necessary investigation.

According to this year’s report by the World Health Organization, Mexico ranks as the seventh country worldwide for traffic accidents and holds the third position for fatalities resulting from such incidents in Latin America.
