Trump Appoints Sriram Krishnan as AI Policy Advisor

Washington, Dec 23 (NationPress) President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Indian-American entrepreneur Sriram Krishnan as the Senior White House Policy Advisor on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Sriram Krishnan will hold the position of Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Trump announced on Sunday, unveiling several appointments centered on AI advancements.

Krishnan, a distinguished venture capitalist and author, boasts a remarkable background, having collaborated with tech giants such as Twitter, Microsoft, Facebook, Yahoo!, and Snap.

In this new capacity, he will work closely with David Sacks, who has been appointed as the White House AI & Crypto Czar.

Trump emphasized, “By working together with David Sacks, Sriram will concentrate on maintaining American leadership in AI and will assist in shaping and coordinating AI policy throughout the government, including collaboration with the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. Sriram initiated his career at Microsoft as a founding member of Windows Azure.”

After the announcement, Krishnan took to X to express his appreciation, stating, “I’m privileged to serve our country and to ensure that American leadership in AI continues while collaborating closely with David Sacks.”

His appointment has received widespread acclaim from the Indian-American community, acknowledging his significant contributions to technology and leadership.

Originally from Chennai, India, Krishnan relocated to the United States after completing his education. Besides being an experienced tech leader, he is also a venture capitalist, podcaster, and author.

Together with his wife, Aarthi Ramamurthy, he co-hosted The Aarthi and Sriram Show, a podcast focused on various startup topics, which gained substantial popularity within the entrepreneurial scene.

In February 2021, Krishnan became a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), subsequently leading the firm’s London office in 2013. However, he left the firm in late November.

In 2022, Krishnan worked with Elon Musk on restructuring Twitter after Musk's acquisition of the platform.

He is also acknowledged for aiding former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson in reconnecting with Musk following the latter's nomination to the proposed Department of Government Efficiency.
