Trump Claims US Can Dismantle Iran's Power in One Hour
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Washington, March 12 (NationPress) - US President Donald Trump asserted that the United States possesses the capability to dismantle Iran's electrical infrastructure in just one hour if it opts to escalate tensions. He also disclosed that authorities are probing a potential Iranian retaliation plot involving drones launched from a vessel near the California coast.
These comments were made to reporters at Joint Base Andrews following his return from a political tour in Kentucky and Ohio, providing a stark evaluation of the ongoing conflict with Iran and the associated risks of retaliation.
When questioned about a law enforcement alert highlighting a potential drone strike from a boat off California, Trump confirmed that it is currently under investigation.
“That’s being looked into, but there are numerous developments, and we must address them as they arise,” he stated.
Trump also cautioned that the United States is capable of inflicting severe damage on Iran's infrastructure if tensions escalate, though he indicated that Washington would prefer not to pursue that course of action.
“We could dismantle their electric capacity in one hour. It would take them 25 years to rebuild it,” Trump remarked. “Ideally, we won’t have to resort to that.”
The president depicted Iran's military status as significantly depleted following US operations.
“Iran is being absolutely decimated. That's all I can say,” he added, claiming the war is being conducted “as effectively as has ever been witnessed.”
Trump mentioned that several foreign nations have privately shown support for the US's actions.
“Other nations, including powerful ones, have told me they’ve never seen anything like it,” he stated. “They also concur with my approach.”
He asserted that Iran’s military capabilities have been largely neutralized.
“They have no navy. They have no air force. They lack anti-air traffic systems. They possess no control mechanisms. We can operate freely over that territory,” Trump explained.
The president noted that US forces have already effectively neutralised much of Iran’s naval power.
“We’ve eliminated all of their boats. They have a limited number of missiles remaining. I believe we are in a strong position,” he claimed.
Trump also mentioned he was informed about the possible presence of Iranian sleeper cells in the United States, suggesting many entered during the previous administration's border policies.
“I have been, and many have come in through Biden with his misguided open border policies,” he said. “However, we are aware of most of their locations. We are keeping a close watch on all of them, I believe.”
Despite his belief that Iran has been severely weakened, Trump indicated that the timing for concluding the conflict remains uncertain.
“Most people say it’s already been won. The question is when do we cease operations?” he noted, emphasizing that Washington does not want to allow Iran to “rebuild.”
Additionally, Trump stated that the administration is preparing to draw from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to stabilize energy markets amid the conflict.
“We’re going to act on this very quickly,” he remarked about releasing oil from the reserve.
