UAE Denounces Destruction of Gaza Hospital by Israeli Forces

Abu Dhabi, Dec 28 (NationPress) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has vehemently condemned the destruction of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip by Israeli forces, which necessitated the evacuation of patients and healthcare personnel.

In a statement issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, the UAE expressed its disapproval of the act, labeling it a heinous violation of international humanitarian law and part of a systematic assault on Gaza's already vulnerable healthcare system.

The Ministry called for an immediate halt to violence, emphasizing the necessity of safeguarding civilians and civilian infrastructures.

"The current conditions represent a catastrophic humanitarian emergency that requires urgent intervention," the statement remarked.

The UAE also appealed to the international community to amplify efforts to avert further deterioration in "the occupied Palestinian territory" and to endorse all initiatives aimed at realizing a comprehensive and equitable peace.

Health authorities in Gaza reported on Friday that Kamal Adwan Hospital is under a severe siege, as its operating rooms, surgical departments, laboratory, maintenance facilities, ambulance units, and storage areas have been entirely destroyed.

Before the Israeli incursion, Kamal Adwan Hospital, the largest medical center in northern Gaza, was accommodating approximately 350 individuals, including 75 injured patients and their caregivers. The Israeli army had blockaded the hospital for over two months as part of its military operations in northern Gaza, alleging that the hospital was a stronghold for "terrorists".

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry referred to the raid as a heinous war crime that adds to Israel's continuous offenses in Gaza and represents a blatant violation of international law and humanitarian principles.

It held Israel responsible for the safety of the patients and medical personnel, urging the international community to exert pressure on Israel to cease attacks on civilians in Gaza and to bring an end to "the unprecedented humanitarian disaster caused by Israel's aggression".

The Saudi Foreign Ministry also condemned "in the strongest possible terms" the actions taken by Israel at the hospital.

It stated that the assault and the forced evacuation of the hospital's patients and medical staff were "in violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and fundamental humanitarian and ethical norms".
