Beijing, March 22 (NationPress) The third edition of 'Vasant Mela' - a hallmark event organized by the Embassy of India in Beijing, celebrating the onset of Spring - was held on Saturday with a remarkable turnout of diaspora members and numerous distinguished Chinese officials.

The vibrant Indian festivity showcased an array of Indian culture - including music, dance, culinary delights, art, yoga, ayurveda, and a dedicated children's area.

Pradeep Kumar Rawat, India's Ambassador to China, expressed gratitude to Liu Jinsong, the Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs at China's Foreign Ministry, and others for attending the event. He emphasized that spring symbolizes new beginnings, strengthened connections, and the chance to immerse in the essence of India. This splendid spring celebration offered an unforgettable experience of India to all attendees.

"Visitors are reveling in the stalls at this Vasant Mela. From delectable Indian dishes to exquisite products, handicrafts, and Mehndi art, guests flocked to explore the diverse offerings available," the Embassy of India in Beijing shared on X.

Yoga sessions were also a highlight of the event.

"Yoga serves as a symbol of tranquility and transcends mere physical movement. It is an art of unifying the body and soul. In Vasant Mela 2025, participants eagerly engaged in practicing Yoga. We also introduced a thrilling Yoga challenge that saw enthusiastic involvement," the Embassy noted.

The inaugural event took place at the previous chancery premises in Beijing on March 11, 2023, attracting over 3,000 attendees. The festival featured stalls offering Indian handicrafts, a variety of culinary experiences, and engaging activities for both children and adults, culminating in a day-long cultural showcase. Last year, the cultural extravaganza also attracted more than 4,000 participants.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited Beijing on January 26-27 for discussions in the Foreign Secretary-Vice Foreign Minister mechanism between the two nations, which led to the announcement of the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in the summer of 2025.

The meeting aimed to assess the current status of India-China bilateral relations, as previously agreed upon by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during their October meeting in Kazan.

During their talks, Foreign Secretary Misri and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong concurred on taking several people-centric measures to stabilize and rejuvenate ties.
