Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav on Monday, 4 May chaired the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) meeting in New Delhi to plan coordinated activities for the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, scheduled for 21 June. The meeting brought together senior officials from multiple Union Ministries and Departments, prominent Yoga Gurus, and representatives from Yoga institutions and organisations across India.
Key Focus Areas for IDY 2026
Chairing the meeting, Jadhav underscored the government's commitment to strengthening the global and national outreach of Yoga as a tool for holistic health and well-being. He outlined several priority areas for IDY 2026, including maximising participation in the Common Yoga Protocol observance on 21 June, integrating Yoga into institutional frameworks such as schools, workplaces, and healthcare systems, and ensuring inclusivity across rural and underserved populations, including border and remote areas. Leveraging digital platforms for wider outreach and maintaining timely implementation and reporting of activities were also highlighted as critical pillars.
