Satna, Feb 9 (NationPress) Tragically, three pilgrims lost their lives and 10 others suffered injuries when a mini truck transporting them to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh collided with an SUV in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district, according to police reports on Sunday.
The accident took place under the jurisdiction of Majhgavan police station, approximately 45 km from Satna's district headquarters during the late hours of Saturday night.
The mini truck, which was filled with pilgrims, overturned after a severe collision on the state highway linking Satna and Chitrakoot.
The victims hailed from Jabalpur district and were en route to take a sacred dip at Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh festivities in Prayagraj.
Regrettably, they encountered this unfortunate accident around 90 km away from entering Prayagraj via the Chitrakoot border.
Meanwhile, the occupants of the SUV were returning to Damoh after visiting Prayagraj through Chitrakoot.
The deceased have been named as Mahendra Patel (52), Manisha Patel (31), and her son Jitendra Patel (11), as confirmed by Aditya Narayan Dhurve, the in-charge of Majhgavan police station.
He also reported that the ten injured individuals from both vehicles are currently receiving medical care at the district hospital.
Out of the injured, three are in critical condition. The incident caused a significant traffic jam on the highway, which was later resolved by local police.
Many pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh and the nearby state of Maharashtra are traveling to Prayagraj via the Jabalpur - Satna - Chitrakoot National Highway (NH-27), which connects Prayagraj to the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh through the Chakghat border.
Due to the heavy traffic congestion, pilgrims are facing lengthy delays on their journey to Prayagraj.
