Jaipur, Feb 6 (NationPress) A devastating road accident in Rajasthan's Dudu region resulted in the loss of eight lives and left six others injured when a Roadways bus lost control due to a tyre burst and collided with an oncoming car, according to an official report on Thursday.
The incident took place on Thursday in Mokhampura along the Jaipur-Ajmer highway when a bus, having lost control from a tyre failure, jumped the divider and crashed into a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
As per SP Anand Kumar Sharma, the roadways bus originating from Jodhpur depot was traveling from Jaipur to Ajmer, while an Eco car was heading from Ajmer to Jaipur.
Suddenly, the bus's front tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control. The bus veered off its path, crossed the divider, and struck the oncoming car. The collision was catastrophic — the Eco car was utterly crushed, leading to the immediate deaths of all eight passengers. The deceased, hailing from Bhilwara, were en route to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, for the Mahakumbh.
Former Sarpanch of Badliyas village, Prakash Regar, revealed that the group had departed for Prayagraj at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday and planned to return after three days.
Family members were to be notified about the tragedy. Some villagers and relatives have already traveled to Jaipur to recover the bodies.
The remains are anticipated to arrive in Bhilwara by Friday afternoon.
Prakash Regar stated that five victims were from his village, and their families demand Rs 21 lakh in compensation and a government job before the final rites.
Local witnesses described the horrific scene, stating that the Jodhpur depot bus was traveling from Jaipur when its front tyre burst.
The bus then crossed the divider and crashed into the car. Rescue operations faced challenges, as bodies were trapped within the wreckage. Authorities were alerted immediately following the incident.
In response, Governor Haribhau Bagde expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident in the Mokhampura area of the Jaipur-Ajmer highway.
He has prayed to God for peace for the departed souls and for strength to the grieving families to endure this loss.
Additionally, he has wished for the swift recovery of those injured in the accident.
