New Delhi, Feb 3 (NationPress) Just hours before the election campaign concluded on Monday, AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused opponents of plotting to manipulate EVMs in the upcoming February 5 Assembly election, asserting that rivals intend to erase approximately 10 percent of his party's votes.
Kejriwal urged supporters to participate actively, stating in a video, “Every single party supporter should step out and vote on February 5.”
He also introduced a new website where AAP plans to publish six crucial details about each polling booth to prevent any tampering of EVMs after the voting procedure.
“We have gained valuable insights from our experiences during the elections in Haryana and Maharashtra,” he remarked.
To safeguard against malpractice during the counting phase, the six details to be shared on the AAP website will encompass the polling booth name, booth presiding officer's name, control unit ID number, the last vote count recorded until night at the booth, battery charge percentage of the last used EVM, and the polling agent's name.
He emphasized that the only strategy to counteract any attempts at EVM manipulation is to boost the party's voter turnout by 15 percent, ensuring that even if 10 percent of their votes are erased, they could still secure victory by 5 percent.
In a prior development on Sunday, the Congress expressed concerns about possible unfair practices in the February 5 Delhi Assembly election, forming an eight-member Empowered Action Group of Leaders and Experts (EAGLE) to oversee the Election Commission of India's efforts in conducting fair elections.
Kejriwal's claims of potential EVM manipulation add to a series of accusations directed at the Election Commission of India.
Besides alleging that the EC has been ineffective in halting election code breaches by rival candidates, the AAP National Convenor has also claimed bias from Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, asserting that he is seeking a post-retirement position after February 28.
In a separate video released earlier, Kejriwal addressed voters utilizing home voting services, urging them not to allow their fingers to be inked even if they receive any cash offers from visiting teams.
