Chandigarh, March 4 (NationPress) AAP leader and MP Malvinder Singh Kang on Tuesday accused the Congress of attempting to leverage the judicial system to obstruct the Punjab government's anti-drug initiatives.
Kang stated that the NGO People Welfare Society, which lodged a petition in the High Court against the government's measures aimed at drug traffickers, is operated by loyal supporters of the Congress.
He presented to the media images of NGO leaders -- Kanwar Rajinder Singh and Kanwar Pal Singh -- with Rahul Gandhi and former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, emphasizing their enduring connections with the Congress.
Kang claimed that the petition was intentionally filed to terminate the Punjab government’s anti-drug campaign, despite the government’s actions being directed against individuals engaged in illegal activities and the structures demolished being unlawfully erected on government-owned land. These locations were utilized for drug trafficking.
The individuals involved had accumulated substantial wealth through the sale of narcotics. Kang referenced the case of Sonu from Ludhiana, who had unlawfully built structures on railway land.
He also cited Rinky from Patiala, who encroached upon temple land to erect illegal buildings. Likewise, Jasvir Singh from Jalandhar had constructed on common village land (shamlat land).
Kang noted that all these sites were associated with drug trafficking, and legal action was taken against them. He challenged the Congress, questioning their motives behind wanting to halt the government's anti-drug campaign. “Do they aim to shield drug traffickers?”
He called on Punjab Congress leaders and Rahul Gandhi to respond to this matter. Kang accused Congress leaders of having connections with drug traffickers and providing them government protection during their governance. Consequently, the Congress is opposed to any action against the drug mafia. However, the citizens of Punjab are vigilant and will react to the Congress’s actions.
Reaffirming the Aam Aadmi Party's dedication to combating drugs, Kang asserted that no matter how hard the Congress tries, this campaign will persist. The AAP government is resolute in its mission to eliminate drugs from Punjab.
