Malerkotla (Punjab), July 18 (NationPress) Emphasizing that there will be zero tolerance for individuals involved in the drug epidemic plaguing the state, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared on Friday that those previously deemed untouchable are now incarcerated.
Speaking at the inauguration of new tehsil complexes in Ahmedgarh and Amargarh, the Chief Minister stated that the drug trade not only thrived but was also supported by elected officials meant to serve the public, who shamefully transported drugs in their official vehicles. He lamented that these leaders had wielded immense power during their tenure, with no one daring to confront them despite their collusion with drug traffickers.
However, Mann affirmed that his administration has successfully apprehended these leaders for their role in the devastation of the youth through the drug trade. He called upon the community to unite in delivering a strong message to these traitors of Punjab. The Chief Minister pointed out that the overwhelming success of the Yudh Nasheyan Virudh initiative demonstrates that the people stand with the government in this battle against drugs.
Mann assured that this fight will persist as they strive to liberate Punjab from the blight of drugs. He also noted the turmoil within the Badal-Majithia faction, where internal conflict has escalated due to ongoing power struggles. He remarked that both Congress and Akali Dal are fractured, engaged in a fierce contest for supremacy among their leaders.
The Chief Minister remarked that these power-hungry politicians are anxious as they have been rejected by the people, who have chosen AAP instead. Mann conveyed that his government will soon introduce several pro-people initiatives designed to benefit all stakeholders.
He stated that the focus of his administration is to enable the youth to become job creators rather than job seekers, highlighting the urgency of fostering a prosperous and progressive Punjab through active youth participation.
