Raipur, May 10 (NationPress) Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) officially launched India’s inaugural hydrogen fuel cell truck on Saturday, aiming to enhance cleaner transportation solutions. These hydrogen-powered vehicles are set to gradually replace the diesel trucks currently utilized in the company's logistics operations.

In partnership with both domestic and international energy tech firms, along with a prominent automobile manufacturer, Adani is in the process of creating hydrogen fuel cell battery-operated trucks specifically designed for cargo transport, the flagship company of the Adani Group announced.

Each truck is outfitted with advanced technology and three hydrogen tanks, enabling it to carry up to 40 tonnes of cargo over a distance of 200 kilometers.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the first truck in Raipur, which will transport coal from the Gare Pelma III Block to the state’s power facility.

"The introduction of India’s first hydrogen-powered truck in Chhattisgarh signifies the state’s dedication to sustainability. Such initiatives will greatly minimize our carbon emissions and establish a new benchmark for the industry. Chhattisgarh is not only pivotal in fulfilling the nation’s electricity needs but also sets an example in embracing sustainable practices," stated the Chief Minister.

The Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited has designated Adani Enterprises as the mine developer and operator for the Gare Pelma III block after a competitive bidding process.

This project is a collaborative effort between Adani Natural Resources (ANR) and Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), both subsidiaries of Adani Enterprises. ANR will procure hydrogen cells from ANIL, which is also involved in the production of green hydrogen, wind turbines, solar modules, and batteries.

“The initiative for hydrogen-powered trucks represents a pivotal move towards Adani Group's commitment to decarbonization and responsible mining practices. We are developing model mines with minimal environmental consequences by utilizing autonomous dozer push technologies, solar power, digital innovations, and tree transplanters for relocating trees,” expressed Dr. Vinay Prakash, CEO-Natural Resources and Director of Adani Enterprises.

“We aspire to provide affordable and reliable electricity for all, while setting new benchmarks in sustainable mining methodologies," Prakash added.

Point of View
