Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Asansol, April 16 (NationPress) Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, delivered a pointed critique of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) at a public gathering in Asansol, West Bengal, on Thursday. He claimed that if the BJP secures victory, "goons and mafia will flood the streets of Bengal."
While rallying support for BJP candidate Arijit Roy in the Barabani Assembly constituency, Adityanath emphasized that a "double-engine government" would facilitate swift development, uphold law and order, and dismantle what he termed TMC's "mafia raj."
The event witnessed a significant turnout, with eager supporters climbing rooftops, vehicles, and trees to catch a glimpse of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.
Adityanath accused the ruling TMC of intimidation, alleging that their workers attempted to disrupt the rally by removing BJP flags and pressuring supporters. "Do not fear anyone. When the BJP comes to power, those instilling fear today will be serving the people," he remarked.
Referring to BJP candidate Arijit Roy, Adityanath noted that the name symbolizes a conqueror and urged voters to elect him to ensure TMC's defeat. He highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, a BJP-led government could tackle Bengal's challenges at "double speed."
He charged the TMC with creating an environment of fear, corruption, and lawlessness over the past 15 years, claiming that various mafias have thrived in West Bengal, and funds allocated for development were being misappropriated.
Drawing parallels with Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath asserted that the state's condition has dramatically improved under BJP governance. "In the past, riots were commonplace, crime was rampant, and citizens felt unsafe. Today, there's peace, development, and strict action against criminal elements," he stated, adding that properties belonging to criminals are now utilized for welfare initiatives.
The CM also addressed religious and cultural concerns, pledging that the BJP would prohibit cow slaughter and promote unity among Hindus. "There will be no riots or curfews. Law and order will be firmly established," he declared.
He criticized Congress, Left parties, and TMC for fostering an "identity crisis" in Bengal, transforming a once culturally rich and economically robust state into a hub of crime and corruption. Adityanath expressed concern that farmers are not receiving fair prices and pointed to a decline in agricultural productivity.
Reflecting on Bengal's illustrious history, he noted its role as a guide for the nation and its contribution of numerous great thinkers and freedom fighters. He urged voters to "liberate Bengal from anarchy" and restore its former brilliance.
Reiterating the BJP's electoral promises, Yogi Adityanath asserted the party's commitment to ensuring safety, prosperity, and progress in West Bengal if elected.
