Patna, March 25 (NationPress) The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has organized a significant protest involving Muslim organizations on Wednesday at Gardanibagh in Patna against the Waqf Amendment Bill. During a press conference, the Board's spokesperson, Qasim Rasool Ilyas, criticized the Bill, asserting that it was introduced on communal grounds and infringed upon the rights of Muslims.
"This protest will be against the Waqf Amendment Bill. The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) acted unilaterally on this issue. This Bill has been brought on communal grounds, and it is against our rights," Ilyas stated.
He further accused the BJP’s allies of endorsing a Bill that he views as harmful to the Muslim community. "The BJP’s allied parties should not have supported this Bill. We had engaged with them and requested their backing," he added.
The spokesperson also expressed disappointment with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, remarking, "Muslims are unhappy with Nitish Kumar. He must clarify his position regarding this Bill."
The AIMPLB perceives the Bill as a direct assault on Muslim rights. Ilyas labeled it as "a betrayal of the Muslim community," stating, "This Bill is akin to stabbing Muslims in the back."
He emphasized that the protest would convey a powerful message to the BJP’s allies. "Through tomorrow's protest, we are signaling to the BJP’s allies that if they support this Bill, they can forget about receiving our support," the spokesperson asserted.
Moreover, he mentioned that the protest would attract participation from various political parties, adding, "Anyone who believes in the Constitution of the country will stand with us."
As per AIMPLB, the protest planned for Wednesday is anticipated to be a prominent demonstration of Muslim unity and dissent against the contentious Bill, with political leaders from multiple parties expected to join in solidarity.
