Air India Introduces Inflight Wi-Fi Services on Domestic Flights

New Delhi, Jan 1 (NationPress) Tata group-owned Air India has made history by being the first airline to offer inflights Wi-Fi Internet connectivity services on domestic flights, as per the airline's announcement on Wednesday.
Passengers can enjoy the Wi-Fi service on domestic routes aboard Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and select Airbus A321neo aircraft.
The airline emphasized, “This makes Air India the first to provide in-flight Wi-Fi Internet connectivity on flights within India, allowing travelers—whether for leisure or business—to remain connected to the Internet during their journeys. This means they can browse, access social media, catch up on work, or text loved ones.”
Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer of Air India, stated, “Connectivity has become an essential aspect of modern travel. For many, it offers the convenience of real-time sharing, while for others, it enhances productivity and efficiency.”
He added, “Regardless of the reason for travel, we are confident our guests will value the opportunity to connect to the web and enjoy the new Air India experience aboard these aircraft.”
Air India mentions that passengers can connect using laptops, tablets, and smartphones running iOS or Android. Additionally, the in-flight Wi-Fi allows guests to link multiple devices while flying above 10,000 feet.
The introduction of Wi-Fi on domestic routes follows a pilot program on international flights serviced by the Airbus A350, select Airbus A321 neo, and Boeing B787-9 aircraft to destinations such as New York, London, Paris, and Singapore.
Currently, the Wi-Fi service is offered free of charge by Air India.
Similar to the domestic offering, Wi-Fi will be complimentary for an introductory period. Air India plans to gradually implement this service on additional aircraft within its fleet over time.
