Chandigarh, April 21 (NationPress) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday called for the apprehension of all individuals associated with a WhatsApp group connected to the Akali Dal Waris Punjab De party and imprisoned MP Amritpal Singh, who were allegedly plotting the execution of various politicians.
The SAD leader, who brought to light details regarding Amritpal Singh, currently held in Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the strict National Security Act (NSA), released audio recordings where the MP admitted to his connections with gangsters and confessed to participating in dacoities. He has demanded a National Investigation Agency (NIA) inquiry into the allegations.
Majithia declared his intention to submit all available evidence to the Centre, citing that the Punjab Police had become politicized and could not be relied upon to investigate the issue. The SAD also challenged why Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann remained silent on such a significant matter.
Majithia sparked controversy by releasing audio tapes in which imprisoned Amritpal Singh discussed his direct affiliations with gangster Jaipal Bhullar and even detailed his involvement in a multi-crore dacoity executed by Bhullar.
In the audio clip, Amritpal Singh is heard claiming knowledge of the whereabouts of the gold stolen by Bhullar. In another conversation, he admits that his brother Harpreet struggles with drug addiction and speaks casually about potential cash heists, while also acknowledging he owns two flats in Delhi and is aware of where Rs 22 crore looted by Bhullar is kept.
Describing Amritpal Singh as a 'dhongi' rather than a 'Pracharak', Majithia emphasized that Amritpal Singh and his family have historically supported the Congress and even voted against Panthic candidate Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra in 2019. He alleged that gangsters Arsh Dalla, Happy Passia, and Harwinder Rinda were closely linked to Amritpal Singh and remarked that the latter was using a phone while in Dibrugarh jail.
The Akali Dal leader also disclosed conversations from the WhatsApp group associated with the Akali Dal Waris Punjab De team in Moga, where members expressed their readiness to become martyrs and inquired if their families would be cared for should they engage in political assassinations of leaders, including Ravneet Singh Bittu, Bikram Singh Majithia, and Amit Shah.
He also shared an audio clip featuring a woman urging members to turn into suicide bombers. Majithia stated that he opposed Amritpal Singh on moral grounds, particularly when the latter misused the Sri Guru Granth Sahib to attack the Ajnala police station to liberate a supporter. 'This is the reason why I am now being targeted,' he emphasized, insisting he will not remain silent. 'Nothing will deter me from advocating for the peace of Punjab and communal harmony,' he added.
