This initiative is a crucial part of the city’s preparations for the Commonwealth Games 2030, aimed at enhancing urban mobility, traffic management, and overall commuting efficiency.
From April 1, 2025, to January 26, 2026, AMC undertook major projects on key roads, interconnecting streets, and internal city routes, thus fortifying the transport network and significantly improving traffic conditions.
This marks the first instance in the corporation’s history that such extensive road work has been executed simultaneously across all seven zones.
The work completed across various zones includes: Central Zone – 30,000 metric tons, East Zone – 1 lakh metric tons, North Zone – 74,000 metric tons, South Zone – 86,000 metric tons, West Zone – 78,000 metric tons, South-West Zone – 44,000 metric tons, and North-West Zone – 1.35 lakh metric tons.
Additionally, the Road Project Department accomplished 2.51 lakh metric tons, culminating in a total of 8.45 lakh metric tons.

Current works are ongoing in multiple zones, with total output projected to reach around 9.50 lakh metric tons by March 31, 2026.
In a statement to IANS, Standing Committee Chairman Devang Dani remarked, “This is a remarkable achievement for the corporation. We are consistently prioritizing the quality of roads, focusing not just on the surface but also on drainage systems and pipelines. Our aim is to enhance infrastructure, and we plan to increase the budget in the future to ensure seamless progress.”
Officials have emphasized that the improved road network is vital for efficiently managing visitors, athletes, and logistics vehicles during international events such as the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics in 2036.
By achieving this level of road development, AMC is not only enhancing the city’s daily commuting facilities but also preparing for its long-term readiness for international events while addressing the evolving infrastructure needs of the city.
